Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 7-15-2025

This Privacy Policy describes how Digital Tripwire LLC (“we,” “our,” “us”), the company behind Smashpodz™, Cherry Smash™, and all related products and platforms, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information.

We take your privacy seriously. Our products are built to prioritize safety, not surveillance.

1. What We Collect

When using our hardware devices (Smashpodz™) or any affiliated software or mobile apps, we may collect the following non-personally identifiable information:

  • Bluetooth MAC addresses of nearby devices

  • Wi-Fi SSIDs and BSSIDs in range

  • Device IDs detected through passive scanning

  • Timestamps of when those signals were recorded

  • Approximate signal strength (RSSI)

This data is collected passively, without GPS, without user location, and without identifying who the device belongs to.

We do not collect or store:

  • Names

  • Phone numbers

  • Home addresses

  • Browsing behavior

  • Microphone or camera data

  • Live geolocation

  • Any biometric data

2. Why We Collect It

Smashpodz™ devices are designed to passively log digital signals to create a proximity history — a timestamped record of nearby digital devices. This information is intended to be used:

  • For law enforcement access in the event of a missing person or stolen item

  • For building a digital breadcrumb trail useful in recovery efforts

  • For ownership verification when using our UV-tagged products

  • To help identify suspects via nearby devices that can be tied to license plates (e.g., via VIN or surveillance matches)

This system is strictly opt-in and activated only when a user marks themselves or their item as missing.

3. Who Has Access

We believe in a privacy-first architecture. Therefore:

  • Users do not have access to raw signal logs. This helps prevent vigilante use or misuse of proximity data.

  • Law enforcement officials may request access to signal history only when a user or trusted contact flags a device as missing.

  • Logs are never shared with advertisers, marketers, or third-party data brokers.

  • All signal data is encrypted and stored on secure, tamper-resistant servers.

4. How Long We Store Data

All logged signal data is stored for a period necessary to:

  • Aid in recovery

  • Comply with legal requirements

  • Support open investigations

We may delete logs from devices no longer marked active or missing after a defined retention period (typically 12–24 months).

5. Website and App Data (Cookies & Analytics)

Our websites and apps may use:

  • Essential cookies for login sessions and cart functionality

  • Google Analytics or similar tools to understand site performance

We do not use:

  • Retargeting pixels

  • Behavioral advertising trackers

  • Social media trackers

You may disable cookies via your browser, but doing so may affect how certain features function.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our products are designed to protect children — not track them.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. All signal logging is anonymous and triggered only upon escalation by a parent or legal guardian.

If you believe your child’s data was collected improperly, please contact us immediately.

7. Third-Party Tools

If you interact with law enforcement portals, shipping services, or embedded platforms (e.g., payment processors), those systems may operate under separate privacy policies. We do not control their data handling practices.

8. Data Security

We use:

  • End-to-end encryption

  • Encrypted backups

  • Tamper-proof firmware (for hardware logs)

  • Access controls and authentication for law enforcement dashboards

No system is 100% secure, but we take every precaution to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of your data.

9. Your Rights

You may:

  • Request that your device be disassociated from our system

  • Delete your account (if applicable)

  • Inquire about the data we’ve stored on your behalf

  • Report a suspected misuse of data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [your email address].

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • New product features

  • Legal compliance updates

  • Security improvements

When changes are made, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify users via our site or app.
